Gwen Stefani in "It's My Life"

February 25, 2011

Not all villainesses are confined to the silver screen and the boob tube. In the music video for "It's My Life," Gwen Stefani portrays a nameless black widow facing judgment on account of man-killing spree. Bandmates Tony Kanal, Tom Dumont and Adrian Young play the unfortunate husbands, while Stefani makes her best Jean Harlow impression.

Everything would have been believable in this music video, had it not been for an awkward scene when Stefani plants little kisses on Young. No Doubt fans are likely to cringe at that.

"It's My Life" turned out the way it did because of David LaChapelle's direction. The song is a cover of an 80s synthpop hit by Talk Talk.
