'Maleficent' Trailer: 3 Things You Didn't Catch

November 14, 2013

Disney has already teased us with the first trailer of Maleficent, the retelling of 1959's Sleeping Beauty from the perspective of its eponymous villain.

So much magic in one clip! You may have missed key details through all that thorn and green fire:

"You've been watching over me my whole life."

This line offers a generous clue as to how the movie would play out. Maleficent knows where Elle Fanning's Aurora is and stalks her for life. In the original movie, Maleficent has been in the dark about Aurora's whereabouts for 16 years. She looks about to swat Aurora, or Briar Rose for that matter, like a fly the moment she finds her.

That blonde running through the fields? She is five-year old Vivienne, Angelina Jolie's offspring with Brad Pitt. This is reportedly her acting debut.

Sleeping Beauty Castle

Why did the camera just pan from the Disney logo to the mountains, instead of fading out? Simple: The Disney emblem uses the Sleeping Beauty Castle. For all we know, those are the Forbidden Mountains.

How excited are we for next year?
