10 Sexy Actresses Who Make A Great Selene in 'X-Men'
May 26, 2014
If you've really read your X-Men and X-Force comics, you would know that Apocalypse, the figure at the end of the credits in Days of Future Past, only wishes to be En Sabah Nur or "The First One." The oldest living mutant is Selene, who has walked this earth for 17,000 years, long enough to know Conan and Apocalypse in their nappies.
Simon Kinberg and Bryan Singer should take care not to forget this fact when creating X-Men: Apocalypse. Because gender equity. If anything, Selene should be in the scene. Blink and Warpath are already in the picture, and we all know who was bad-ass enough to resurrect the former.
Selene's role could be a bonanza for an unknown thespian, much like Jennifer Lawrence in 2011 when she was cast in X-Men: First Class. But it can also be an opportunity to blow up the stock of these established actresses:
Emilia Clarke
If Tyrion could be in an X-Men movie, then why can't Daenerys? Emilia Clarke has enraptured millions as the platinum blonde Mother of Dragons; there's no reason she can't do the same as the brunette Mother of Mutants.
Eva Green
She sharpened her claws as the bloodthirsty, swashbuckling leader of the Persian navy in 300: Rise of an Empire. She also dabbled in the mystic arts in both Dark Shadows and The Golden Compass. Such qualifications should make her a shoo-in for the Black Queen.
Demi Moore
This legendary poster girl for dark-haired beauty could still be off her rockers after the divorce. But she could channel all that negative energy into something even more negative like Selene. Plus, she was a sassy fallen angel in Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle.
Angelina Jolie
Viewers may be maxed out for another Angelina-as-baddie vehicle after Maleficent, yet she's an A-list star who has proven her mettle in action movies. Then again, everything has to be under budget, and Angelina may be out of 20th Century Fox's league.
Megan Fox
If you can't afford Angelina, then get her heir apparent instead. Megan has not been in a blockbuster franchise since Transformers. Also, she's really at home with scanty clothes like Selene.
Emily Ratajkowski
Her notorious role in Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" video demonstrates that she's not afraid of Selene's skimpy outfits. Ben Affleck is even willing to overlook her virtually non-existent acting CV to cast her in his next directorial movie.
Shailene Woodley
With her new crop and own dystopian movie franchise, she's slowly becoming a kind of counter-programming to Jennifer Lawrence. We don't doubt she'd make a good Selene to a good Mystique.
Kristen Stewart
Selene is often called a psychic vampire, since she sucks the life-force of her victims. Who else is made for this role than Forks, Washington's vampire queen Kristen Stewart?
Anne Hathaway
Anne's superhero credentials fizzled with the embattled Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises. The role of Selene could help resuscitate her career in this sphere. Watch Havoc and Brokeback Mountain, if you have any reservations about her parading around in bondage fetish apparel.
Cher
She's more or less a benchmark for longevity, something that strikes a chord in Selene's story. But we all know the Oscar winner has admitted to a nip and tuck here and there. Selene relies more on sorcery and mutation, not surgery and mutilation, to keep herself youthful.
