Ghost haunting the set of 'Ant-Man and The Wasp'

April 20, 2018

In a bold move for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a traditionally male villain in the Ant-Man comics will be female on film.

Hannah John-Kamen is set to play Ghost, a sexually ambivalent character antagonising Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly in their titular roles as Ant-Man and the Wasp, respectively.

"The Ghost character could be male, female, anything, so it just seemed more interesting to us [to cast a woman]," director Peyton Reed told Entertainment Weekly.

Ghost boasts the ability of phasing or moving through solid objects, not unlike Marvel Comics stablemate Shadowcat.

It's yet another feather on MCU's cap of introducing more strong female characters into its portfolio.

Ant-Man and the Wasp comes to US theaters in August.
