Guess the female Asian director of the 'Harley Quinn' solo movie

"Suicide Squad" might as well be entitled "The Harley Quinn Movie" but the beloved DC Comics' anti-heroine is still getting her own movie.

Already it is looking like one for the history books.

Warner Brothers has nabbed Cathy Yan of "Dead Pigs" indie fame to direct the Quinn spinoff, making her the first female Asian director of a superhero tentpole.

The as-yet-untitled project will only be the second full-length feature for Yan, a former Wall Street Journal reporter. She will be following in the footsteps of Patty Jenkins, who helmed last year's "Wonder Woman," and Ava DuVernay, director of upcoming "The New Gods."

Yan's concept for the Harley Quinn movie, based on the "Birds of Prey" comic book series, was "exceptional," noted Deadline which broke the story.

Margot Robbie, who portrayed Quinn in "Squad," had earlier made her preference known for a female director to lead the project.

"Batgirl" scribe Christina Hodson is penning the screenplay, and production may begin as early as the end of 2018.
