Superman's first movie villain returns

After 72 years, the Superman cinematic universe's first big bad will return to DC, as per their March Solicitations. Spider Lady is due to appear in Batman/Superman #16, making it her first brush with the caped heroes since she sparred with them onscreen in 1948's Superman. In that Columbia Pictures flick, Spider Lady was seen attempting to get her hands on the all-powerful Relativity Reducer Ray.  Writer Gene Luen Yang and artists Ivan Reis and Danny Miki are making the baddie's 21st century return possible.

Emma Thompson to play Miss Trunchbull in Matilda remake

Well, isn't this some scrumptious news? Academy Award-winning actor Emma Thompson is due to play the ferocious Miss Agatha Trunchbull in Netflix's upcoming adaptation of the Roald Dahl book. Thompson will follow in the footsteps of Pam Ferris who slipped into the role's giant shoes in the 90s version of the novel. Unlike its predecessor, however, the Netflix movie will be a musical akin to the Broadway project by Dennis Kelly.  The new Matilda movie is set to stream worldwide on Netflix, except in the UK where it will be screened in theaters by TriStar Pictures.
