Years after Charmed folded, Rose McGowan is at it again as a witch. As an evil one, that is; she goes head to head against Jason Momoa in Conan the Barbarian . In a recent interview for the new Conan movie , McGowan revealed that the role of Marique was supposed to be male. Either way, the character has sorcery and necromancy dancing in its veins. Magic aside, Marique is a force to reckon with in hand-to-hand combat. Don't fall for those harmless-looking metal claws. Their soft, slithering movements belie their deadliness, with which even the ferociously barbarian Conan had a hard time. With her receding hairline and dominatrix outfit, Marique could not be more “punk rock,” in McGowan’s words. To achieve Marique’s look, Rose had to fold her hair back and wear prosthetics to cover half her head. Helena Bonham Carter  breathed life into this very kooky but extremely diabolic character. She had this to say about playing Bellatrix: She's obviously as bonkers as they come. There's a bit of a child-like madness there. I did regress a bit as her. It sort of happened naturally. It's easy for me to go back to being a kid. You know how kids can be like savages before they get civilized? There's that sadist quality. Y'know, like boys who like to pick apart an insect for the sake of it.   She's a sadist. She's very sick. She's got problems. I think she's been in prison a bit too long. But I suspect even before prison she had problems. She's a racist, obsessed with blood purity. Like Adolf.
