Fresh off her bruising loss at the Oscars to Olivia Colman, Glenn Close is going back to work. The veteran actress has been confirmed in the role of Norma Desmond for the upcoming return of Sunset Boulevard to the silver screen. Close famously took on the character in 1994 in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Broadway adaptation of the 1950 Billy Wilder film starring Gloria Swanson. Close’s turn as the forgotten silent film actress earned her a Tony award for best actress in a musical. If you had any doubt she has the chops for singing: It’s official. Glenn Close will be cast on Sunset Boulevard, the movie. Although Captain Marvel is not due in theaters until 2019, the road to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first female-led movie is fraught with hellish villains. Last year saw Chris Hemsworth's Thor squaring off against the MCU's first female baddie: Cate Blanchett as Hela. The illustrious Korean-American concept artist oversees the team helping Marvel comic book characters make the high-stakes journey from print to live action.
