How to dress as Sindel, the Mortal Kombat 3 version

With its signature masks, Mortal Kombat has regained relevance in the age of Miss Rona. It's even getting the reboot treatment this year.

Halloween may not be a thing again any time soon, as 2020 proved, but for anyone who wants to unmask their inner Sindel, now is a better time than any to play dress-up in the comfort of your quarantine quarters.

To those who have been with the video game franchise since Mortal Kombat 3, the Queen of Edenia needs no introduction. She is as rotten to the core (see Mortal Kombat 11 for the full, retconned story) as her daughter Princess Kitana is heroic.

Okay, time for Round 1 of your Sindel makeover.

With a little bit of imagination, you can get away with turning your purple bathing suit into a DIY masterpiece fit for a Scream Queen. Cover the swimsuit straps with a sleeveless vest; cut so that the hemline goes all the way to your mid-chest and let the lapels, lined with white cloth, serve as some type of stand-up collar.

The footwear is pretty straightforward: Shao Kahn's consort favors thigh-high boots, but you need to improvise by plastering on fabrics of regal purple on them. The boots also show a little skin; finding the right pair with just enough keyhole cutouts on top will surely maintain balance between the realms.

Being imaginative with some metal braces around your thighs also helps achieve Sindel's silver sheen.
Then finish him: cut a pair of long black gloves strategically, exposing all your fingers while creating a triangular shape on your palms and underhands. Cover the gloves with some some more purple fabric, too.

Round 2

Sindel is depicted as some kind of Lily Munster for the Outworld, with long, streaked gray hair that can be literally weaponised. Mortal Kombat's creators based her on the 1993 Hong Kong film Bride with White Hair.

Here are some affordable gray wigs to throw on if you don't feel like undergoing a drastic bleach at the salon.

Now for some makeup tutorials to keep you looking good in the middle of a Fatality:

Flawless victory.

To start, let's try to get the look of Morticia Addams, one of the reigning queens of Halloween. Anjelica Huston as Morticia Addams Now Morticia, the iconic matriarch of the Addams Family, is scarcely the evil woman pictured here at Cautionary Women. She is rather something of a paradox: scary-looking but kind (in the way she knows how), intimidating but approachable (again, in the way she knows how). She is just eerie, not evil.
