How to Dress Like Madame Medusa from The Rescuers

Bianca and Bernard might be mice, but Madame Medusa is a rat.

Or a crocodile.

Or both.

The pawnshop owner that everyone loves to hate is probably one of Disney's most underrated villains. This, despite the House of Mouse calling her "the world's wickedest woman" during promo for The Rescuers.

She does have a wicked sense of style. What she lacks in infamy compared to villains like Cruella de Vil, she more than makes up for in the looks department.

How to make a Madame Medusa costume

If Madame Medusa reminds you a bit of Cruella, that's definitely not a coincidence. The animators initially considered reusing Cruella's designs for Madame Medusa, so this could explain the latter's similarly short fuse, reckless driving, and great penchant for abduction.

The diamond-crazed kidnapper is known for her red halter dress and pink high heels (with the occasional fur -trimmed coat) that scream late 1970s. She also favors jade earrings.

For a dash of realism to your Madame Medusa act, carry around a rotary dial phone and a cane.

How to do Madame Medusa's makeup and hair

Like her mythical Greek namesake, Madame Medusa has (Devil's) eyes that stare right through your soul. They're as greedy green as her pet crocodiles, a color you can easily achieve with the right contacts.

But if there's anything you can take away from Madame Medusa's peepers, it's that she seriously loves her some false eyelashes.  She also wears blue eyeshadow, paired with fiery red lips for that deranged diamond hunter look.

Just take a look at these Madame Medusa makeup tutorials.

To top it all off, Madame Medusa wears a bouncy, bright orange crop that just adds to her maniacal look.

Diamonds are a girl's best friend

Voiced by Oscar-winning actress Geraldine Page, Madame Medusa delivers some quite unique lines that can add polish to your cosplay.

So be brave, little one. Try on this Disney costume for a change and prove that Madame Medusa's Pawn Shop Boutique is open for business.

How to Dress as Madam Mim

Photo via Heider Carlos Eat your heart out, Mystique. The magnificent, marvelous, mad Madam Mim from The Sword in the Stone has the shapeshifting business down pat. This is the sorceress with the ability to turn herself from this: To this: Madam Mim can reverse ageing and shed weight for the fraction of time it takes Ursula to morph into Vanessa. In hindsight, Mother Gothel should have just asked Mim for tips instead of committing all those crimes in pursuit of rejuvenation. Hair via New Republic Be beautiful, lovely and fair, have some silvery voice, but never forget the long purple hair! The lavender wig is essential if you intend to channel the scourge of Camelot.
